The 2010 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded Friday to Liu Xiaobo, a leading Chinese dissident who is serving an 11-year prison term after repeatedly calling for human rights and democratization, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced. Liu was sentenced in 2009 for inciting subversion of state power. He is the co-author of Charter 08, a call for political reform and human rights, and was an adviser to the student protesters at Tiananmen Square in 1989.
Liu Xiaboo's wife brought her husband news of the Nobel Peace Prize award over the weekend and has been detained (held) by the Chinese police in her home every since. As of Sunday afternoon, she was still detained in her home.

Liu Xiaobo, Chinese person that was named for the Nobel Peace Prize, fighting for human rights and democratization in China. Liu was sentenced to 11 years in prison after repeatedly calling for human rights. Many people around the world where protesting for the freedom of Liu including Obama.
As a Peace person that wants to free his country he is giving so much, waist of his life in prison. Liu deserves this prize because his goal is to have human rights and democracy in China that would do everything no matter the consequences he will have.

My prediction for it is that Liu would get out of prison because many people around the world support him including President Obama, one of the most important people in the world. His actions would do a change maybe little but he would have done something.
Chinese gov. thinks that this awarding was blasphemy against the peace prize and it could harm the relationship between them. Also they said that he was a convicted criminal sent to prison because his actions contradicted the Nobel Peace Prize.
I think they were blacked out because Chinese government didn’t want their country to see this or something important that could damage the gov. or something like that.
I think that Liu wanted but at the same time didn’t wanted freedom. I really don’t understand someone is gave up his freedom for something he agrees and disagrees. Its something not very intelligent. But still he wants peace and fights for whatever reason he has.
Liu Xiaobo was sent to jail for protesting for a democracy in front of the goverment, risking his life and freedom, which resulted in him being sent to jail for 11 years. He won a noble prize for spreading and promoting peace in China, which sadly was not succesfull. For me, being dessented and promoting peace seems possible. It is Chinas fault that he is in jail, just because he is acting aggresivly against the goverment, but his mind is full of peace and he is determined to demonstrate caring actions
There has been controversy on Liu Xiaobo winning the Nobel Peace Prize because he is in jail. He was sent because he was protesting for democracy, but he was sent to jail for 11 years. He has expanded peace all over China and that's why he was awarded the noble prize, but many people are against him receiving it because he is in jail and it is ironic for someone winning the peace prize and is in jail. I think he deserves the Peace Prize because he is in jail for protesting for something good. I don't think people should be opposed by him because he is in jail, because he is there for doing a good cause. Why are people opposed to him if he is in jail for a good cause? Why did they choose Liu Xiaobo for the Nobel Peace Prize? I think he will be sent out of jail because he won it.

Liu Xiaobo, a chinese person that was trying to help people was named for nobel peace prize, but he was also sent to jail for going against his goverment... Something pretty dum if you ask me, but as you know many people have different cultures, many contries think in diffrent ways. Liu Xiaobo was one of them, he thought that what his goverment was doing was wrong and he was fighting for human rights and democratization in china. Is that a reason to be sent to jail? Or can they send some one for liking something else over that what the chinese goverment likes? I think that Liu will be free soon, but still I think that he shouldnt have gone to jail in the first place. Also what I think is that many people will try to change, too many people that china will not be able to sent them all to jail, and maybe but maybe china will do the correct thing and free its people, or just continue the way they are right now. Will there be other protestant people like him, of course they will, and they will try to change to what is wrong to right.
Liu Xiaobo is the noble prize winner for this year, but he is in jail at this moment. He was sentenced in jail for 11 years; this was because he was going against Chinese government about human rights. He is a great man and a lot of people want for him to get out of jail. A lot of people got amazed when they nominated Liu for the Noble prize they got happy.

Lui Xiabio is a Chinese man who has been 11 years in jail because he fought for human rights and democratization in china. He won the Nobel Prize for his attempt to stop China’s mayhem. I’m really happy he won the Nobel Prize. He deserved it in every way he was only doing something good for his country and his people by trying to set them free. He has been stuck in jail since 2009 for doing peace, which is something extremely unfair, he deserves an award to honor all he has tried to do for China. He winning the Nobel Prize is in a way a conflict since some people say its good he won the price but other say he is a criminal and does not disserve it. For example the Chinese government says he is a criminal and he is causing war with the government there for does not deserve the Nobel Prize for peace. In the other hand the human rights group Amnesty says he deserves the prize because he is fighting for freedom. Since the Chinese government is not okay with Lui Xiabio winning the prize they of course blocked the awards ceremony. I think they did this because if the people saw that there was someone that is fighting for their freedom they might rebel against the government and cause a lot of trouble for the Chinese government. They want people to be blind and think that not being free, in a way, is good and that there is most probably no solution for it. I think a dissident can set freedom. What if freedom is what he is trying to get? Freedom cannot be set by war. Will the US and other countries that are against communism do something about Lui being in jail?
Annually theirs given the Noble Peace Award in memory of Alfred Noble how was the founder of this award. This year the Noble Peace Award was given to a Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Mr. Xiaobo is serving in China and eleven year term in prison for defending human rights and political reform in China. This award will contribute to political reforms in China. Also this award had brought the attention of the world to the lack of democracy in China. My prediction is that the authorities of China won’t free Liu Xiaobo and he will need to serve his eleven years in prison.

Liu Xiaobo defended what he and many others believed that's right, but in doing so he contradicted the chinese government as an act of opposing them. Liu was also an advisor to the students in tiananmen square and thus chinese government was provoked in a very severe way but if chinese were looking for peace they would have to allow freedom of speech, China is afraid to lose power so they plan to silence everyone who thinks differently. Liu should be venerated maybe not for peace but for bravery, he fought for his beliefs. The fact that he won the prize will only prolongate his stay in prison.
