According to Kevin Bales, one of the world's leading experts on contemporary slavery, "people are enslaved by violence and held against their wills for purposes of exploitation." While people today most likely believe that slavery is a thing of the past, the practice is still thriving wherever poverty, social conditions, and gullability can be exploited. A lot of people in the world now are put into slavery. Government has found 95 slaves workers in farms and 51 slaves mine workers. In the mines they found adolescents between the ages of 15-17. According to ministry officials, both sets of workers were toiling under inhumane conditions without breaks. The workers were exposed to high level of pesticides, many were minors.
I think that this people that are putting people into slaves are bad, this people should be put in jail or must be fined. The government should get all the people that are doing these things, because there should be no more of this.
I think what will happen is that the government will get more slaves, but they will not be able to get all. People will still have slave people.

1. Do the conditions of the farm fit the definition of slavery given by the slavery convention or Human Rights Education Association? Yes, the definition fit because in the farm it said that it had been denied basic sanitation, water and were carted around in dangerous transportation.

I do not think that this is to common but some farms do have.
3. What do you think is the cause of "slave-like conditions" and other forms of modern day slavery? I think that the cause is that people have no money so the only thing they could do is being slaves and get very little paid. There is a lot of economic issues in a lot of countries this days.

In Brazil Nearly 150 workers living in slave like conditions were rescued by authorities. Between the 200 workers rescued in Rio de Janeiro, 95 were rescue in Campo de Goytacazes, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, and 51 workers in Cambui, in the Minas Gerais state.
Those workers live in inhuman conditions, and work in really dangerous environments stated the Brazilian authorities.

Many people around the world have been put into slavery with the definition of the H.R.E.A. Like 150 slaves found in Brazilian farms and mines have been freed. Government wants’ to crack down this farms and to free the people that suffer of pour living conditions and some to extreme levels of pesticides. It has been found some teenagers with 15 – 17 years old. Many of this slaves where minors.
Yes, this people where examples of the definition and where abused and didn’t resaved nothing for their hard work since they were slaves.
I don’t really know about other countries but I’m sure some of southern countries have this “slave-like” condition.
I think the cause of “slave-like conditions” is like the hierarchy that just because he has more money and it’s more powerful the people that are under him must obey and do as he says without getting something, because people know in present day only thinks in them and just them not in the other people.

If slavery comes to an end in Brazil I think that there will be a problem in the economy because they would have to pay to all the people but they will work harder and with more enthusiasm.

This blog talks about how many people are still used as slave in Brazil. It talks about how many people have been used as slaves in farms in Brazil like in Rio de Janerio. Cops have been looking for them. I hope that people realize that we al are equal no matter how much money or education you have, but we all deserve respect and freedom. I really feel sorry for the slaves because most of them are young and they may have a lot of good education on the future, but they may not take advantage of it. Do you think people are going to stop? Why do people do it? I think people will be the same.

There were like 200 workers rescued in Rio de Jaeiro, only 95 workers were rescued in Campo Goytacazes. Also 51 workers who were also living in low conditions were rescued in Cambui, I the Minas Gerais state. Workers like them live o very low and unfortunate conditions, they also work I extremely dangerous conditions.hey have to be really careful because they could lose their life.

If slavery ends in Brazil, what I think is that there will be a bigger problem in the economy because the authorities would have to pay something to everyone. Maybe the workers will work harder and better. Maybe Brazils economy would be better with more things to sell.
Brazilian officers have rescued over 150 people that were on slavery on some farms in Brazil. The make people work on difficult conditions and then torture them. I think that people being put into slavery is really unfair because slaves are just like us, human beings. I think that the goverment should step up and do something about it becuase I really don't think it's fair for people to suffer like that.

• Last August Brazilian officials discover two groups of natives that where treated as slaves. One of the groups was in Minas Gerais that where 51 slaves working on strawberries plantations and the other group was in Rio de Janeiro that where 95 slaves working on sugarcane plantations. This people were being treated in anti human conditions some of them where teenagers between 15 and 17 years old.
• My reflection is that there are people without moral and respecting the law and how to treat de labor force. They should be treated equal with dissent food with normal working hours not working all day without a break with a comfortable shelter and good beds and also not making to work minors.
Does Brazil have the capacity to controlled slavery in such a big country?
Is the international community aware of these things happening in Brazil and other parts of the world?
• My prediction is that Brazil will get help of other countries to fight slavery. I think they will get help from other countries because Brazil is a big country so they cannot be going to each part of Brazil.
1. Yes the condition that the authorities found the workers where in slavery conditions. They were working around the clock and under sanitary conditions they where adolescence and with a lack of food.
2. Probably in some isolated areas in some regions of the world like Africa or some of the Muslim countries you can find some slavery.
3. I think that is because there is a lack of supervision and controlled and probably because there is no law that protects the people from these situations.
Slavery was thought to be from the past, but that is not true. Brazilian official still have slaves working on their farms and have recently said they will keep them in slave like conditions. The labor ministry wants do to something about it, they have rescued about 150 workers having the hopes to rescue more. The world was thought to be becoming more liberal, but apparently it is not. Slavery is going on and its something that is should stop as soon as possible. People where not brought to the world to be treated as dogs and doing the dirty work without receiving any gratitude or a payment. It’s really good that the Brazilian government is taking action, but I think they could do more. It’s not enough to just recue some of them; they should shut it down by forcing the creator of this slavery a death penalty if he continues treating people in salve like conditions. People can’t live in this conditions they are risked to so much illnesses that can even cause them death. Why inst the Brazilian government doing something more productive about it? Are maids categorized in the slavery? Hopefully in a few years things have changed, the government starts taking charge of it and makes slavery illegal in Brazil. It is not fair at all for people to be treated this way. I think the US, since it is a very strict country about slavery because of their history, will see what is happening and hopefully will do something about it. I also think thing will change because this is not just economy that has ups and downs this is peoples life’s at risk.
